Your accounting software is most likely designed for general business. Companies with route sales have special requirements that are not addressed by general accounting software. The purpose of IMS inventory management software from Data Concepts is to complement your host accounting software by adding features only available in expensive ERP or Inventory Management Systems. It is designed specifically for wholesale distributor’s special inventory control requirements.

IMS uses MobilePDQ’s  warehouse count software module to take inventory on your schedule.  Each day’s transactions are stored in the reliable Microsoft SQL Server 2008 database. Posted sales will reduce each location’s (truck) inventory.  Damage and good returned product is included in the equation. The computer count is replaced by the physical count and the variance is recorded in the database for further analysis by IMS reports. Salespeople are responsible for all of their inventory. You have the detail to backup payroll deductions or payments.

Summary

IMS focus is on inventory after it has been transferred to the warehouse and loaded on the trucks (location). It will calculate what the inventory should be over time until the truck is verified. This is especially valuable for distributors who only count their trucks on a monthly basis.

Each location is reconciled. The information is aggregated and transferred to the host accounting inventory system as one transaction. This reduces the amount of time spent in the host accounting software dealing with warehouse transfers, edits and journals.

IMS provides tools to help load the trucks effectively.  The dimensions, volume and product weight are calculated so that the vehicle is not over-loaded or in violation of state and/or federal laws.

The new receiving module receives product as it arrives in the warehouse. This inventory must be posted to add to warehouse inventory.

Optimum loading is achieved by using standards. IMS tracks product weight and volume to assist the loading crew in loading product properly everytime.
